Staying at UCSC for Extra Quarters?
UCSC initially grants all incoming First Years 12 quarters (4 years) and all incoming Junior Transfers 6 quarters (2 years) to complete their degrees. However, sometimes students cannot complete their degree during that amount of time. Students can ultimately petition to stay at UCSC for a MAXIMUM of 15 quarters* (if they entered as a First Year) or 9 quarters* (if they entered as a Junior Transfer).
*Transfer credits earned during time away from UCSC may reduced remaining quarters of enrollment.
If you need to stay at UCSC for one to two extra quarters, what do you do?
You will need to meet with your major adviser(s) and your college adviser. With your major adviser(s), you should work together to develop a quarter by quarter plan of the classes you will take to complete your major(s) and what quarter you will be done. Bring this plan to your college adviser to discuss what other requirements you need to complete and get approval to have your expected graduation date extended.
