"Singing up a Storm" College Night 10/27/2016

October 12, 2016

By , Cowell College Programs Coordinator

College Nights are a special event where students, staff, and faculty come together for a family style meal, followed by a special program. They take place about once a month in the Dining Hall. Join us a special menu, followed by an incredible show. Plan to stay for the entire program. Just bring your student ID if you have a meal plan and arrive by 6 pm (doors open at 5:45 pm).

For this first event of the year, we will feature the amazing a cappella group The House Jacks (http://www.housejacks.com/). Founded in 1991 by Deke Sharon, widely recognized as The Father of Contemporary A Cappella, The House Jacks of San Francisco are the original “rock band without instruments". Using nothing more than their five voices (and mouths, and sometimes bodies), they deliver everything from blistering funk to screaming rock to heart-melting ballads for anyone who loves music. Stick around after the show for a special vocal workshop in the Mary Holmes Fireside Lounge 7:45-8:45 pm.

Menu: chicken cacciatore, eggplant parmesan, creamy (vegan) butternut squash, linguini roasted potatoes (vegan), focaccia, organic mushroom farro risotto w/ butternut squash (vegan), fall salad with pears & almonds, apple pie, canoli with pumpkin cheese filling, cranberry orange mint cooler, hot cider, coffee, and tea.

Admission Info: Cowell students with a meal plan: swipe your card at the door. Off-campus students without a meal plan: pay $2 in advance at the Programs Office room 133. Faculty & staff contact Provost Assistant: cwprvstasst@ucsc.edu, 459-2251. Arrive on time.
