Smith Gallery opening Oct. 25, 2-4pm
At Cowell's Eloise Pickard Smith Gallery through
December 4, Cowell alumna '72, Ann Thiermann's exhibition, "Visual
Conversations with Women in the Arts", pairs her twenty pastel and
acrylic portraits of outstanding local artists at work with
individual audio and visual examples from each artist. Thiermann
gives the viewer a unique insight into the diversity of artists who
work in the Monterey Bay region.
A show for all the senses, the viewer can look and listen to the
musicians or view a video of local dancer Tandy Beal, as well as work
by a local lacemaker, bookbinder, sculptor and painter. The artist's
attention to detail and use of classical light give the viewer a
genuine sense of presence and intimacy with each artist depicted
a wonderful new take on the traditional portrait.
