An Evening of World Music (11/14/09)
Cowell College and the Language Program at UCSC
will present An Evening of Wold Music on Saturday, November 14, at
8:30pm, In the Cowell College Dining Hall. There is no admission
charge.
This eclectic program will feature works that represent some dozen
cultures, ranging from Brazil to Thailand, from Greece and Turkey to
Mexico and Germany, and will be performed by students and staff of
UCSC, offering works for piano, guitar, accordion, bouzouki, Peruvian
harp, and other instruments. Composers ranging from Chopin and Rossini
to Joplin and Uematsu will be represented. The event will also feature
vocal excerpts from opera, as well as folk, ragtime, jazz, pop, and
classical music. A ballet piece performed by one of our Russian
students will complete the program.
The World Music Evening marks the third in a series performed by
students of Cowell, the Language Program, music majors, and other
talented UCSC participants. The public is cordially invited to attend
this free performance. Parking at UCSC is free on weekends.
