Dahr Jamail Speaks Out on IraqDahr Jamail, an unembedded, independent journalist, will be at UC Santa Cruz for his third visit to discuss new updates from the ground in Iraq. Jamail's book, Beyond The Green Zone: Dispatches from an Unembedded Journalist in Occupied Iraq, contradicts the reports of mainstream media, which often fails to accurately communicate about the occupation. Jamail has spent a total of eight months in Iraq since the war began, exploring and documenting the realities of the Iraq invasion. In past visits Jamail has been abundantly welcomed by community members and students. His reports have been published in The Nation, The Sunday Herald, Islam Online, the Guardian, Foreign Policy in Focus, the Independent, and more. Radio programs Flashpoints, Democracy Now! and the BBC have featured Jamail as a guest reporter.
Jamail will be speaking in the Cowell College Dining Hall on Tuesday,
April 22nd at 7pm. This event is free and open to the public. His
new book will be on sale for $20 at the event. Campus parking will be
$2. We would like to make this event accessible to the public. If
you have any further questions or need for accommodations, please
contact Debra Ellis at Visit Jamail's webpage (http://dahrjamailiraq.com) for pictures, messages, and more information on his work. Above is the event flyer. Please feel free to print your own copy.
