Cowell Raises Over $700 for RAFT

The Cowell/Stevenson Halloween dance on 10/31/08 raised over $700 that students chose to donate to a Bay Area nonprofit, Resource Area for Teachers: http://www.raft.net/. Attendees purchased an admission button for $3. All proceeds were then donated to RAFT.

The event offered a safe and fun event for students on Halloween night; an alternative to off-campus parties or walking around downtown with thousands of other visitors. RAFT is a non-profit organization that believes hands-on teaching is the best way for teachers to teach and students to learn. They provide creative hands-on activities, educational resources, workshops and inexpensive materials, to enrich pre K-12 education and community group programs. Their goal is to assist teachers, non-profits and community groups, by providing materials and ideas for day-to-day teaching and for supporting professional growth.
