Acquire A Cappella's Acquirefest

It's back again--Acquire A Cappella presents its annual spring concert, Acquirefest. Last year's event was the largest a cappella event held on the UCSC campus, with almost three hours of music, six performances, and over 450 attendees. Now Acquirefest returns for its second year with six groups from UC Davis, UC Berkeley, Stanford, and UC Sana Cruz. This year the event will fall on Friday May 30th in the Stevenson Event Center. Admission is free to the UCSC community with valid ID or business card. Members of the Santa Cruz community and beyond not affiliated with the campus are welcome to purchase tickets for $5 at the door.

The show will begin at 8pm with doors opened at 7:30; be sure to be on time as seats are likely to fill up for this free concert. This year should be even more exciting than the last, so if you would ever find yourself at an a cappella concert, this is the one to attend!

Acquire is UC Santa Cruz's newest and fastest growing a cappella group, and is sponsored by Cowell College. The singers come together twice a week to learn, arrange, and perform the music of their choice. In the first four months as a group, the singers performed all over the UCSC campus and hosted Acquirefest, the largest a cappella event on campus, bringing in six groups from northern California and yielding an audience of 450. Since returning this past fall, the group has grown with new members and has traveled outside Santa Cruz County, growing in awareness and reputation. Next year, Acquire plans to record their debut CD and tour to Southern California.
